The recent floods in Swat were a tragedy that shook everyone. People lost their loved ones and homes in minutes. In such times, it’s natural to look for answers. But inside Rescue 1122 itself, some have started blaming their own DG Rescue 1122, as if he alone caused the disaster.

That’s unfair. The Swat flood was sudden and fierce, caused by heavy monsoon rains. Even the best rescue teams in the world can’t always stop flash floods. Instead of blaming one person, we should look at what’s really been happening in Rescue 1122.

DG Rescue 1122 took charge when the department was facing many problems. Earlier, there were complaints about favoritism, bribery, and hiring through connections. He changed that. He kept politics out and focused on real reforms.

Under his leadership, rescuers finally got risk allowances for dangerous work. District offices got dedicated budgets so they can respond quickly in emergencies without waiting for approvals. He worked to automate systems, so things don’t get lost in paperwork and responses are faster.

He also improved coordination by connecting the Provincial Monitoring Cell with 34 districts, making it easier to manage disasters province-wide. He signed agreements with ICRC and WHO for better training and support.

He didn’t ignore local challenges either. He brought in mines rescue training so teams can handle accidents in mining areas. He started CERT training for college students and police, turning them into local emergency helpers. And knowing floods are a constant threat in KP, he made sure to plan for trained divers in flood-prone districts.

He also worked to clear old debts that were blocking progress, secured new uniforms for all rescuers, and pushed through pension reforms so rescuers and their families have security after retirement.

These are not small things. These are real improvements that make Rescue 1122 stronger.

Yes, Rescue 1122 still has challenges. It needs better early warnings, faster responses, and more public awareness about flood dangers. But attacking the DG for a natural disaster while ignoring this hard work and these reforms isn’t just unfair it’s harmful.

If we want to save lives in the future, we should support real changes like these. Instead of blaming, let’s work together to strengthen Rescue 1122 and make sure it’s always ready to help when we need it most.
