JERUSALEM: Israel’s Defense Ministry has signed a $5.2 billion agreement with Boeing to procure 25 next-generation F-15IA fighter jets, enhancing the capabilities of the Israeli Air Force. This acquisition is part of a broader package of U.S. military aid, approved earlier this year by the U.S. administration and Congress, which also includes an option for an additional 25 jets.
The delivery of the F-15IA jets is expected to start in 2031, with Boeing scheduled to supply 4 to 6 aircraft annually. These advanced jets will come equipped with Israeli-integrated weapons systems, along with increased range and payload capacity, giving the Israeli Air Force an edge in addressing current and future security challenges in the Middle East.
According to a statement by the Defense Ministry, these features will “enable the Israeli Air Force to maintain its strategic superiority” across the region. Eyal Zamir, Director General of the Israeli Defense Ministry, highlighted that this acquisition, alongside a third F-35 squadron purchased earlier this year, represents a “historic enhancement” in Israel’s air power and strategic reach.
Since the outbreak of the Gaza conflict on October 7, Israel has secured nearly $40 billion in procurement agreements, focusing both on immediate military needs and long-term strategic planning.
Boeing Israel’s President, Ido Nehushtan, affirmed the long-standing relationship between Boeing, the U.S., and Israel. This F-15IA deal is Boeing’s second major transaction with Israel this year, following a $2.5 billion agreement with El Al Israel Airlines for 31 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft signed in August.
