Authorities in Baltistan have launched urgent restoration work at Istak Bridge on the Shahra-e-Baltistan highway after floodwaters caused severe damage, cutting off vital connectivity. The bridge, located in Rondu near Skardu, was inundated by rising waters from Istak Nallah, leaving travelers and locals stranded.

On-site supervision is being carried out by Commissioner Baltistan Division, Commander 62 Brigade, Deputy Commissioner Skardu, and XEN Ashraf. Their presence highlights the seriousness of the situation as engineers and workers rush to stabilize and repair the bridge. Officials have assured that every possible resource is being mobilized to reopen the route quickly.

The damage has not only disrupted traffic but also impacted local businesses in the area. Restoration of the bridge is seen as a priority to ensure supplies, aid, and travel between Skardu and surrounding regions can resume without delay. Authorities remain optimistic about restoring connectivity soon.
