A significant grand Jirga of the Mehsud and Burki tribes took place in Upper South Waziristan, highlighting the ongoing commitment of tribal leaders to peace and development in the region. The tribal elders expressed profound gratitude to the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (South) for their efforts in facilitating the return of displaced Makki residents and providing essential infrastructure for the district administration and police.

The Jirga was attended by prominent tribal leaders and honored by the presence of Inspector General (IG) Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (South) as the chief guest. Tribal elders praised the sacrifices made by the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps in ensuring lasting peace in the region and reiterated their unwavering support for the security forces in eradicating the menace of Khawarij (terrorists).

Their resolve to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with security forces until the complete elimination of terrorism sent a strong message of unity and resilience.

The IG FC acknowledged the immense sacrifices made by the tribal people in the fight against terrorism. He emphasized the importance of keeping the younger generation away from the negative propaganda of anti-state elements and appreciated the pivotal role played by tribal elders in fostering a sense of national unity.

Tribal leaders also lauded the efforts of the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps in advancing development projects, particularly in promoting education for girls in the region. They recognized these initiatives as a cornerstone of progress, aiming to uplift the community and secure a brighter future for the youth.

The provision of infrastructure for district administration and police by the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps was particularly appreciated, reflecting their commitment to strengthening local governance and ensuring stability.

The Jirga’s outcomes carried a strong message of collaboration and hope. As Irfanullah, a representative of the Burki tribe, stated, “The return of displaced people and the provision of buildings for district administration and police are commendable contributions by the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps.

” Similarly, Asif Mehsud, Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA), remarked, “The Jirga has sent a clear message that current and future challenges must be resolved in the national interest.” Farooq Mehsud, President of the Mehsud Press Club, described the event as “timely and essential,” emphasizing the discussions on peace and other pressing issues.

The grand Jirga stands as a symbol of collective will and determination, showcasing the deep-rooted spirit of unity among the tribal communities and their unflinching support for the nation’s security and progress. Through mutual cooperation and a shared vision for the future, the tribes of South Waziristan continue to set an inspiring example of resilience and patriotism.
