Pakistan and China Strengthen Strategic Ties in Beijing

Pakistan and China have once again reaffirmed their commitment to deepening their All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership during high-level talks held in Beijing. The meeting highlighted the strength and continuity of bilateral relations between the two countries.

The talks took place between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and China’s Executive Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang. Both leaders emphasized the importance of sustained engagement at all levels.

Leaders Emphasize Mutual Trust and Cooperation

During the meeting, both sides stressed the need for close coordination on regional and international matters. They agreed that Pakistan-China relations play a vital role in promoting stability and cooperation across the region.

Moreover, Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang appreciated Pakistan’s consistent support for China on matters of core national interest. He also conveyed New Year greetings to the leadership and people of Pakistan, further strengthening diplomatic goodwill.

In response, Senator Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to expanding cooperation with China in political, economic, and strategic sectors.

75 Years of Diplomatic Relations Mark a Historic Milestone

Notably, 2026 marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. Since 1951, both countries have maintained a strong and stable partnership despite changing global dynamics.

To mark this milestone, both sides agreed to launch initiatives aimed at strengthening:

    • Political dialogue

    • Economic collaboration

    • Cultural and people-to-people exchanges

As a result, several commemorative events will be organized throughout the year.

CPEC Remains Central to Bilateral Cooperation

Meanwhile, discussions also focused on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Both sides described CPEC as a cornerstone of bilateral cooperation and a driver of economic development.

Additionally, leaders agreed to explore new areas under CPEC, including technology, agriculture, and sustainable development. These efforts aim to enhance long-term economic growth and regional connectivity.

Strategic Dialogue to Review Full Spectrum of Relations

Furthermore, Senator Ishaq Dar is set to co-chair the seventh round of the China-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue. The two-day dialogue will review political, economic, and secu-rity cooperation.

Officials will also identify new partnership areas. Consequently, both sides expect the dialogue to further strengthen the strategic partnership.
