Pakistan Seeks Stronger Economic Partnership with Bahrain, Says PM Shehbaz During Manama Visit
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with Bahrain. During his address to the Bahraini business community in Manama on Thursday, the premier highlighted key sectors where both countries can expand collaboration, including agriculture, information technology, artificial intelligence and fintech.
A Renewed Push for Economic Synergy
PM Shehbaz said Pakistan and Bahrain share decades of strategic cooperation. He noted that both nations stand on a foundation built on cultural affinity, religious ties and mutual trust. These shared values, he added, continue to shape bilateral relations in a positive way.
During his remarks, the prime minister stressed that Pakistan is fully prepared to deepen trade linkages, exchange knowledge and build joint ventures in emerging technologies. He called it a moment to “create synergy” by blending strengths and supporting each other’s development objectives.
Meetings with Bahrain’s Leadership
The prime minister arrived in Manama a day earlier and held high-level talks at Al Qudaibiya Palace. King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa led the Bahraini side during the discussions. According to PM Shehbaz, these engagements were “extremely productive” and focused on unlocking potential in multiple sectors.
He emphasised that Bahrain’s leadership showed strong intent to explore new areas of cooperation. Both sides discussed ways to boost investment, support business-to-business exchange and widen market access for enterprises from each country.
Focus on Technology and Future Growth
In his address to the business community, PM Shehbaz highlighted that the future of Pakistan–Bahrain relations lies in innovation. Therefore, IT, AI and fintech are central pillars of Pakistan’s economic direction. He encouraged Bahraini investors to explore Pakistan’s evolving digital ecosystem, which he said offers new opportunities for growth and cooperation.
Transitioning into agriculture, he reminded attendees that Pakistan has a strong base in food security and agri-tech. With Bahrain’s growing demand for sustainable supply chains, both nations can benefit from closer agricultural trade.
Building on Shared Strengths
The prime minister also underlined that Islamabad and Manama have a long-standing relationship based on brotherhood and mutual respect. This, he said, is why both sides trust each other when discussing sensitive economic matters or exploring new strategic avenues.
He expressed optimism that the latest round of meetings would create momentum for long-term partnerships. Pakistan, he reaffirmed, remains committed to supporting Bahrain as both countries seek new avenues of prosperity.
