People of Balochistan Rising Against Terr0rism: DG ISPR
RAWALPINDI: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that the people of Balochistan are standing up against terr0rism and actively exposing terr0rists and their facilitators. Speaking during a session with students at ISPR’s internship program, he highlighted the importance of community support in ensuring lasting peace.
Locals Rejecting Terr0rism
The DG ISPR noted that operations against terr0rism succeed only when the local population identifies and points out the culprits. “The people of Balochistan are tired of terr0rists and their facilitators and are now rising against them,” he remarked.
He clarified that the Pakistan Army has no interest in harming innocent civilians. Punishment, he said, applies only to individuals involved in sheltering terr0rists or storing explosives, and not to entire villages or communities. He emphasized that all counter-terr0r efforts are intelligence-based and carried out in close coordination with local authorities.
Recognizing Baloch Talent and Resilience
Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif praised the achievements of Baloch youth, highlighting their contributions in science, governance, and sports. He mentioned Cambridge University scientist Yarjan Abdul Samad and athlete Shahzaib Rind as examples of the province’s talent. He also noted that Baloch women are serving in senior government positions, including roles as deputy commissioners.
The DG ISPR further paid tribute to Major Muhammad Anwar Kakar Shaheed, underscoring the sacrifices made by both security personnel and civilians in safeguarding Pakistan’s freedom.
Call for Unity Beyond Ethnic Divides
Addressing the broader theme of national integration, he stressed that Pakistan’s foundation rests on the principle of La ilaha illallah and the message of equality from the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He reminded that divisions should not be based on ethnicity, race, or region.
Balochistan, home to nearly 15 million people, includes not only Baloch but also a significant Pashtun population, with many Baloch communities living in Sindh and southern Punjab. The DG ISPR urged unity, stressing that “a person cannot be judged by his DNA, but by piety and good action.”
Conclusion
Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif’s remarks highlighted a shift in Balochistan, where communities are increasingly rejecting terr0rism and supporting peace. By acknowledging local sacrifices and talent, while promoting national unity, the DG ISPR underscored that Pakistan’s real strength lies in its shared faith, resilience, and collective progress.
