RAWALPINDI: The Military Courts have convicted 60 individuals, including Hassan Niazi, the nephew of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, in connection with the violent events of May 9. The convictions were announced by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday, shedding light on the court’s decisions related to the May 9 incidents.
The convictions follow the Supreme Court’s ruling concerning the May 9 violence, with the Field General Court Martial (FGCM) finalizing the sentences. The ISPR issued a statement emphasizing that the nation, government, and armed forces remain committed to justice and to maintaining the inviolable authority of the state.
List of Convicts and Their Sentences:
The following individuals were convicted and sentenced by the Military Courts for their involvement in various violent incidents, including attacks on Jinnah House, GHQ, and other locations:
- Hassan Khan Niazi (son of Hafizullah Niazi) – 10 years of rigorous imprisonment for his involvement in the Jinnah House attack.
- Mian Abbad Farooq (son of Amanat Ali) – 2 years of rigorous imprisonment for the Jinnah House attack.
- Raees Ahmed (son of Shafi Ullah) – 6 years of rigorous imprisonment for the Jinnah House attack.
- Arzam Junaid (son of Junaid Razzaq) – 6 years of rigorous imprisonment for the Jinnah House attack.

Legal Process and Rights of Convicts
The ISPR clarified that these convictions follow an exhaustive legal process, which includes the examination of evidence, the protection of the convicts’ legal rights, and the completion of due legal procedures. Despite the convictions, all those sentenced retain the right to appeal and pursue other legal options as guaranteed by the Constitution of Pakistan.
