BARA: a policeman was killed and 10 others critically wounded in a suspected suicide bombing outside the gate of a police station in the Bara Bazar area of Tehsil Bara in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, police said on Thursday.
According to police, the latest attack on law enforcement agencies happened when police were checking people entering the tehsil compound — which houses the Bara Police Station, government offices, and a cell of the counter-terrorism department.
KP Inspector General Akhtar Hayat confirmed that the attack was led by two terrorists who entered the compound from the main and rear gates. Both of the terrorists were killed in the attack.
According to police, a cop embraced martyrdom while 10 others wounded in the explosion. The injured were being shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex, said police
As per reports, suspected militants launched an attack on the office of Tehsil Bara, prompting heavy firing from both sides, leaving residents and authorities on high alert.
The blast resulted in damage to a part of the building and heavy machinery has been deployed to clear the wreckage.
Following the blast and firing, a heavy contingent of security forces reached the spot while the Bara Bazaar has been closed for security reasons after the incident, rescue sources said.
It is pertinent to mention here that militants had attacked a police checkpoint in Peshawar’s Regi Model Town area last late night in which two policemen were martyred.
According to KP police, a group of terrorists opened fire on a police post at the entrance of Regi Model Town around midnight. As result, two constables- Wajid and Farman-were martyred while two others sustained injuries in the terrorist attack, read the police statement.
Earlier on Tuesday, a suicide bomber targeted FC vehicle in Hayatabad, leading to eight policemen and one civilian being injured.
