In Nowshera city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), a devastating incident has come to light. Local journalist Hasan Zaib was tragically shot dead by unidentified assailants. The local police of KP confirmed the ruthless killing of Hasan Zaib, who was a print media journalist, in Akbarpura village of Nowshera.

The attackers, riding motorcycles, fatally shot Hasan Zaib in a bustling market area. This reprehensible act has sparked outrage and demands for justice from various quarters.

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur swiftly responded to the murder, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation. He demanded a comprehensive report from senior police officials and reassured the public that the perpetrators would face the full force of the law.

This isn’t an isolated incident. Just a few months ago, another local journalist, Nasrullah Gadani, fell victim to a similar attack. Gadani, known for his bold reporting against local feudal lords and political figures, was seriously injured in a gun assault near Mirpur Mathelo, Ghotki district. Despite efforts to save him, Gadani succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Karachi.

The assailants struck when Nasrullah Gadani was en route from his home to the Mirpur Mathelo Press Club. Armed individuals in a car opened fire on the journalist along Jarwar Road near Deen Shah before fleeing the scene.

Nasrullah Gadani sustained critical gunshot wounds and was initially treated at Mirpur Mathelo DHQ hospital. Later, he was transferred to Sheikh Zayed Medical College Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan for urgent surgery. Unfortunately, his condition worsened, and he was shifted to Aga Khan Hospital in Karachi, where he passed away.

Local journalists remember Nasrullah Gadani for his courageous stance against injustice, as he fearlessly reported on sensitive issues through his work for a Sindhi newspaper and via social media platforms.

These tragic incidents underscore the dangers faced by journalists in the line of duty and the urgent need for enhanced security measures to protect them from such senseless violence.
