The body of the suspected suicide bomber, who blew himself up inside a mosque packed with policemen during the afternoon prayers on Monday in the high-security zone of Peshawar, has been found.

According to the capital police chief Mohammad Ijaz Khan, body parts and other belongings like helmet and shoes of the alleged suicide bomber were recovered from the debris of the mosque located inside police lines.

“Body parts and other belongings have been sent for forensic tests while face is being matched with NADRA database” said CCPO Mohmmad Ijaz Khan.

Sources close to the investigation team say that DNA of the woman killed in the blast has also been sent for forensic test to find if there was any connection between the woman and the alleged suicide bomber.
Similarly, police released more video footage of the suicide bomber which shows that the alleged bomber came to police lines twice; he tried to enter police lines on Friday also but couldn’t succeed due to tight security checking. In one of the CCTV video the alleged suicide bomber could be seen entering the mosque holding the helmet in his hands and pretending as if he was going to perform prayer.

Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Moaazam Jah Ansari told Khyber News that in CCTV footages it could be seen that the alleged suicide bomber wearing a police uniform and riding a motorcycle came from Khyber road and entered the main secretariat road. The sentinels at the gate mistook him for a policeman and allowed him to go to Mosque for prayer.

IGP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Moaazam Jah Ansari in a press conference reiterated his commitment to expose the terror network and bring the culprits to justice. Death toll of the blast that took place on Monday, reached 102 after another injured lost his life in a government hospital.

Although banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in a statement has distanced itself from the incident but Pakistan defense minister Khawaja Asif blamed TTP for the attack and criticized Afghan Taliban interim government for harboring the Pakistani terror group.
