PM Shehbaz Directs Strategy for Efficient Use of Electricity in Industry and Agriculture
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the authorities concerned to devise a comprehensive strategy aimed at boosting industrial and agricultural production through the efficient use of electricity.
Chairing a review meeting on the Power Division’s reform package in Islamabad, the prime minister emphasized that energy efficiency is essential to strengthening Pakistan’s economic base. He stated that maximizing the productive use of electricity can significantly increase both industrial goods and agricultural yield, ultimately driving sustainable national growth.
During the meeting, the Power Division briefed the premier on current electricity generation levels and potential reforms to ensure its efficient utilization. The proposed reforms are expected to introduce modern energy management practices and promote cost-effective power distribution across the country.
The prime minister instructed the Power Division to prepare detailed recommendations that facilitate investors, industrialists, and farmers. He reiterated that providing maximum support to the agriculture and industrial sectors remains one of the government’s top priorities.
Shehbaz Sharif further emphasized the need for a long-term policy to optimize power consumption, ensuring the most productive use of available electricity resources. By aligning energy efficiency with economic reforms, the government seeks to strengthen Pakistan’s manufacturing base and agricultural resilience.
The Power Division’s upcoming policy package will focus on reforms that improve transparency, reduce wastage, and enable industries and farms to operate more efficiently. Officials noted that the comprehensive plan aims to attract both local and foreign investors, enhance productivity, and promote a more sustainable power sector.
