Security Forces Neutralise Three India-Backed Terrorists in Panjgur IBO
Pakistan’s security forces achieved another major success in the ongoing counter-terr0r campaign by eliminating three India-sponsored terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan’s Panjgur district. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the development, reaffirming the state’s resolve to dismantle foreign-backed militant networks.
According to ISPR, security forces conducted the IBO on January 25 after receiving credible intelligence about terrorist presence in the area. Troops moved swiftly and engaged the hideout. An intense exchange of fire followed, resulting in the elimination of three militants.
Those killed included local commander Farooq alias Soro, along with terrorists Adeel and Waseem. Security forces recovered weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the site. The recovered material indicates that the group planned further violent activities in the region.
Disrupting Foreign-Sponsored Networks
The elimination of a key local commander marks a significant setback for militant infrastructure in Panjgur. Commanders play a central role in recruitment, logistics, and coordination. Their removal weakens operational capability and disrupts command structures.
ISPR stated that the slain terrorists remained actively involved in multiple attacks in the area. Following the operation, security forces launched sanitisation efforts to clear surrounding zones. These measures aim to prevent regrouping and ensure lasting secu_rity.
Azm-e-Istehkam: Sustained National Resolve
The Panjgur operation falls under Pakistan’s counter-terr0r vision, Azm-e-Istehkam. This strategy focuses on intelligence-driven operations, coordination among agencies, and constant pressure on militant groups. Security forces and law enforcement agencies continue to act under this framework.
Earlier this month, ISPR Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry shared nationwide counter-terr0r data for 2025. He stated that authorities carried out more than 75,000 intelligence-based operations across the country. Of these, 58,778 operations took place in Balochistan.
These efforts resulted in the neutralisation of 2,597 terrorists during the year. Most terr0r incidents occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Both provinces remain vulnerable due to their proximity to volatile border regions.
Regional Security Challenges
Pakistan has faced increased militant activity since 2021. Cross-border factors have added pressure to the internal secu_rity environment. Officials have repeatedly highlighted the role of foreign-backed elements in major incidents.
Militants have deliberately targeted civilians and soft locations to spread fear. Security forces continue to counter these tactics through proactive operations. The Panjgur IBO reflects this consistent approach.
