Hassan Kazemi Qomi, the Iranian ambassador and special representative for Afghanistan, emphasized that the United States stands as a common adversary to regional nations. Qomi’s assertions come in light of growing concerns over the US’s alleged intentions to disrupt Afghanistan and its neighboring countries.
Speaking to Afghan Media, Hassan Kazemi Qomi delved into the Daesh threat, underscoring that while the group may not hold physical territory in Afghanistan, its terror cells persist. “The Afghan government asserts its firm action against Daesh. We unequivocally affirm this and contribute to enhancing security conditions,” Qomi stated. However, he questioned whether past occupiers, still advocating intervention and turmoil through supported terrorists on Afghan soil, would cease their disruptive actions.
Hassan Kazemi Qomi acknowledged the existence of anti-Islamic Emirate factions within Iran but assured that Iran’s policies pose no jeopardy to Afghanistan’s sovereignty. “Iran maintains communication with all Afghan factions. Our doors are open to Afghan guests. Iran’s stance is clear: it does not harbor any threat to Afghanistan’s security,” Qomi affirmed.
Discussing water rights, Hassan Kazemi Qomi expressed satisfaction over Iran’s receipt of more than 100 million cubic meters of water this year, contrasting with the two billion cubic meters lost last year. He cited efforts to repair the Kamal Khan dam, resolving previous issues with its gates.
Highlighting Iran‘s humanitarian efforts, Qomi noted the country’s hosting of over 6 million Afghan refugees. He emphasized Iran’s measures to streamline visa issuance to prevent border chaos.
Hassan Kazemi Qomi’s remarks underscore Iran’s concerns over US destabilization efforts, its commitment to Afghan security, and its ongoing initiatives to address regional challenges.
