Pakistan Issues Demarche to Afghan Taliban After Soldiers Martyred in North Waziristan
Pakistan Condemns Deadly Cross-Border terr0rist att@ck
Pakistan has issued a strong diplomatic demarche to the Afghan Taliban regime following a deadly terr0rist att@ck on a Pakistan Army camp in North Waziristan that resulted in the martyrdom of four soldiers. The Foreign Office (FO) expressed grave concern over the continued presence and facilitation of banned groups operating from Afghan soil.
According to an official statement, the demarche was conveyed after the Afghan deputy head of mission was summoned to the Foreign Office. Pakistan strongly protested the use of Afghan territory for carrying out att@cks against its military personnel and civilian population along the Pak-Afghan border.
Foreign Office Demands Investigation and Action
The FO emphasised that the permissive environment enjoyed by outlawed groups contradicts Afghanistan’s international assurances that its soil would not be used against any other country. Pakistan demanded a full investigation into the incident and decisive action against those involved in planning and facilitating the att@ck.
Officials reiterated that the Afghan Taliban regime must take immediate, concrete, and verifiable steps to dismantle all networks involved in cross-border terr0r activities. Islamabad also made it clear that Pakistan reserves the right to defend its sovereignty and protect its citizens from threats originating outside its borders.
ISPR Details Foiled Camp Breach
Separately, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed that the att@ck took place when khawarij militants attempted to breach the perimeter of a military camp in the general area of Boya, North Waziristan. Troops responded swiftly, foiling the intrusion attempt despite intense fighting.
According to ISPR, the attackers rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the outer wall, causing damage to nearby civilian infrastructure and injuring local residents. Security forces eliminated all assailants during the exchange of fire.
Soldiers Martyred in Line of Duty
During the operation, four soldiers — Havildar Muhammad Waqas, Naik Khanwaiz, Sepoy Sufyan Haider, and Sepoy Riffat — embraced martyrdom while defending the camp. The military praised their bravery, professionalism, and sacrifice in safeguarding national secu-rity.
Pakistan has repeatedly urged Afghan authorities to prevent the use of their territory for hostile activities. Officials stress that effective cooperation and adherence to commitments are essential for regional stability and peace.
