The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is considering the establishment of a new special security force for permanent deployment at sensitive installations in the province. This proposal, known as the “Security Division,” was discussed in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur. Attendees included Provincial Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chauhdry, Inspector General of Police Akhtar Hayat Khan Gandapur, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Mohammad Abid Majeed, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Amjad Ali Khan, administrative secretaries, and police officials. The meeting focused on the overall law and order situation in the province. An official statement from the Chief Minister’s House revealed.
The proposed security force would consist of new recruits as well as personnel from the Frontier Reserve Police. Its primary objective would be the permanent deployment at sensitive installations such as the Chief Minister’s House, Governor’s House, prisons, civil secretariat, and other key buildings. Currently, personnel from local police stations are responsible for security at these locations. But they will be replaced by officials from the proposed security division. The officials emphasized that this new force’s deployment at sensitive installations would be permanent.
During the meeting, the CM also approved the release of Rs 3 billion to procure the latest equipment for police. This funding will enable the force to effectively address the prevailing law and order challenges. Specifically, it will help acquire armoured personnel carriers.
Furthermore, Mr. Gandapur issued instructions for the expedited implementation of the Safe City project in all divisional headquarters. He also urged the police to allocate a one-time special employment quota for the legal heirs of martyred personnel. The preparation of a proper case for this purpose is advisable. The approval of this quota will result in the immediate recruitment of the children of martyred police personnel, who have long been awaiting jobs in the police department.
In addition, the chief minister announced that the government’s Ramazan Relief Package would cover the heirs of martyred police personnel.
