In the remote region of Tamp, Turbat, Balochistan, tragedy struck as two Punjabi laborers fell victim to a fatal shooting by unidentified assailants. This chilling incident highlights the precarious situation faced by Punjabi laborers in Balochistan, where they are often targeted amidst ongoing tensions.

According to local authorities, the shooting occurred in Turbat, leaving the entire community shaken. The victims, hailing from Punjab, were mercilessly attacked, their lives cut short in a senseless act of violence.

Expressing outrage, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti swiftly condemned the heinous act. On social media platform X, Bugti denounced the perpetrators as “so-called terrorists” and mourned the loss of two innocent Pakistanis. He emphasized the condemnable nature of targeting individuals solely based on their identity.

In solidarity with the affected families, the Balochistan government reaffirmed its support for the oppressed and innocent laborers during this trying time. However, this tragedy is not an isolated incident.

Earlier, another shocking attack unfolded along the National Highway in Nushki district, claiming the lives of 12 individuals. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif intervened, demanding a thorough investigation into the horrific events.

The first incident involved a targeted assault on a bus carrying passengers from Quetta to Taftan. Nine passengers were abducted and later found dead, their identities traced back to Punjab. The Noshki SSP revealed that the victims were deliberately singled out and executed, their bodies left in a remote mountainous terrain.

In a separate incident on the same highway, armed individuals opened fire on a vehicle, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to three others. Tragically, one of the injured succumbed to their wounds, bringing the total death toll to 12.

This wave of violence against Punjabi settlers is not new. Reports dating back to August 2006 indicate a disturbing trend of targeted attacks on individuals of Punjabi descent. The region has witnessed sporadic incidents of violence, reflecting deep-seated tensions and grievances.

As investigations continue into these senseless acts of violence, the safety and security of Punjabi laborers in Balochistan remain a pressing concern. The perpetrators must be brought to justice, and measures must be taken to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
