Threatening Messages to Taimur Saleem Jhagra Prompt CTD Investigation Request

Khanzada GulBy Khanzada GulJune 4, 2024No Comments2 Mins Read
Threatening messages to Taimur Saleem Jhagra have led the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) to seek permission from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly to investigate an opposition MPA. This case emerged in February. A case was registered by the CTD police station in Peshawar on February 17 under sections 7ATA, 25 TA, and others. Taimur Saleem Jhagra, a former PTI provincial minister, reported receiving threatening audio messages on his WhatsApp from an unknown number. The messages demanded that he withdraw his legal cases. According to the official results of the February 8 general elections, Jalal Khan of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz defeated Jhagra from PK 79 Peshawar. Jhagra, along with other PTI candidates, refused to accept the results and challenged them in court. Jhagra later informed the media about the threatening messages on his WhatsApp. He stated that the messages warned him to withdraw his cases or face consequences. Jhagra approached the CTD for an independent investigation into the matter. He did not name anyone in the FIR. During the investigation, CTD officials were instructed to seek permission from KP Assembly authorities to investigate MPA Jalal Khan, who was a rival candidate of Jhagra. MPA Jalal Khan has denied the allegations against him. These threatening messages to Taimur Saleem Jhagra have intensified political tensions. The CTD's request to investigate highlights the need for thorough scrutiny to ensure justice.
