Social platform X suspended a newly created account associated with Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, after it posted messages in Hebrew, as reported by international media.

The account, created on Sunday, carried a standard Islamic greeting in Hebrew as its first message. However, early Monday, it was deactivated with a note citing a violation of X’s policies. Elon Musk’s platform did not provide additional clarification on the nature of the breach.

This action follows intensified tensions between Iran and Israel, with Khamenei referring to Israel’s recent strikes and cautioning against misjudgments of Iran’s power and determination. While Khamenei’s team has used X accounts in multiple languages over the years, suspensions have occurred before—most notably in February when Meta disabled his Facebook and Instagram accounts for his stance on Hamas.

Despite social media restrictions within Iran, platforms like X and Facebook remain accessible to many Iranians through VPNs, underscoring the complex dynamic of global and regional politics on digital platforms.
