In a significant counter-terrorism operation, Pakistan’s security forces conducted an intelligence-based raid in Bakka Khel, Bannu District, targeting Khawarij militants reported to be in the area. The operation took place on the morning of 30 October 2024 and led to a fierce confrontation.

During the operation, security forces effectively engaged the militants’ location, resulting in the elimination of eight Khawarij and injuring seven others. The clash underscored the intensity of the fight, with security forces demonstrating resilience and tactical precision.

However, in the heat of the engagement, Major Atif Khalil, a courageous officer from District Sudhanuti, AJ&K, who was leading the operation from the front, heroically embraced martyrdom at the age of 31. Alongside Major Atif, two of his dedicated men, Naik Azad Ullah (36 years old, from District Karak) and Lance Naik Ghazanfar Abbas (35 years old, from District Layyah), also made the ultimate sacrifice, exemplifying their commitment to the nation.

A comprehensive sanitization operation is now underway to clear the area of any remaining threats. Security forces remain unwavering in their mission to eradicate terrorism, and the courage of Major Atif Khalil and his men further strengthens their resolve to protect peace, stability, and progress across the region.
