KARACHI: Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir delivered a powerful address to Karachi’s business community, emphasizing his unwavering faith in Pakistan’s bright future and urging collective efforts to ensure the country’s progress.
General Munir highlighted the significant economic turnaround, stating that the despair overshadowing the nation a year ago has dissipated. He reassured the audience that all current economic indicators are positive and projected further improvements in the coming year.
Criticizing those who propagated fears of default, he questioned their accountability, asserting that “nothing, including politics, should come before the country.” He appealed to the audience to prioritize Pakistan above personal interests, reminding them that “we have no identity other than Pakistan.”
The Army Chief also addressed the role of illegal businesses in supporting terrorism and underscored the state’s responsibility to protect the country’s digital borders and ensure its people’s digital security.
Encouraging investment, he stated that economic stability could only be achieved by Pakistanis themselves, not through external bailouts. He called on the business community to trust in Pakistan, invest locally, and contribute to national development.
General Munir concluded by emphasizing national unity, asserting that no harm could come to Pakistan if its citizens stood together. He drew a poignant comparison to the challenges faced by nations like Libya, Iraq, and Palestine, urging citizens to value and protect their homeland.
This address reinforced the Army’s commitment to economic stability and unity amidst ongoing efforts to foster trust and collaboration between the state and its citizens.
