The 84th Formation Commanders’ Conference, chaired by Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, Nishan-e-Imtiaz (Military), concluded after two days of in-depth discussions. The event saw the participation of corps commanders, principal staff officers, and all formation commanders of the Pakistan Army.

Tribute to Martyrs and Condemnation of Violence

The conference began with prayers for the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for Pakistan’s peace and stability, including security personnel who lost their lives during recent violent protests in Islamabad. Participants paid heartfelt tributes to the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and civilians for their unwavering commitment to the nation.

    Solidarity with Kashmir and Palestine

The forum strongly condemned human rights violations in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast political, diplomatic, and moral support for the Kashmiri people. Solidarity was also expressed with Palestinians, with a unanimous condemnation of the ongoing atrocities in Gaza. Participants supported international legal measures to end the violence in Gaza.

Insights on Internal and External Threats

Participants were briefed on the prevailing internal and external security environment. The forum reviewed operational preparedness against traditional and non-traditional threats and conducted a comprehensive analysis of ongoing counterterrorism operations.

    Focus on Counterterrorism and Stability

Special attention was given to operations targeting Balochistan-based terrorist groups, particularly the BLA Majid Brigade. Participants emphasized neutralizing terrorists, facilitators, and enablers working under the influence of hostile elements to destabilize Pakistan.

Concerns Over Propaganda and Internal Divides

The forum voiced concern over malicious propaganda against the Army’s lawful deployment for securing key government installations and providing a safe environment for foreign dignitaries. This premeditated campaign, attributed to certain political factions, aims to sow discord among the people, armed forces, and institutions. However, participants vowed such attempts would fail.

The conference emphasized the need for strict regulations to curb the misuse of freedom of expression to spread hatred, misinformation, and division in society. Identifying and holding accountable those spreading fake news for political or financial gain was deemed essential.

    Pakistan’s Commitment to Regional Cooperation

Participants expressed concern over the use of Afghan territory by terrorist groups against Pakistan, urging the Afghan interim government to take decisive action to prevent such activities. The forum reiterated the importance of mutual development and cooperation for the benefit of both nations.

    Support for Socio-Economic Initiatives

Acknowledging the resilience of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan in facing terrorism, the forum expressed its continued support for federal and provincial social and economic development initiatives.

    Concluding Remarks by COAS

In his closing address, General Asim Munir stressed the importance of professionalism, operational readiness, and unwavering resolve in overcoming challenges to Pakistan’s security and stability. He reiterated the Army’s commitment to defending the nation against all internal and external threats, ensuring peace, and fostering unity among its citizens.

The conference showcased the Pakistan Army’s dedication to safeguarding the country while upholding its responsibilities without bias or political alignment.
