In a significant achievement, the Islamabad Police successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of arms, ammunition, and drugs from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Islamabad. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations, Muhammad Arslan Shahzaib, disclosed the details during a press conference held at Tarnol Police Station on Saturday.

The seized items include an impressive arsenal of weapons, comprising 168 nine mm Glock pistols, 69 nine mm Beretta pistols, 19 thirty bore pistols, 15 Makarov pistols, one 32-bore pistol, four MP-5 carbines, two 12-bore double-barrel shotguns, 10 twelve bore shotguns, and three 44-bore rifles. Alongside these, a staggering amount of ammunition was recovered, including 12,500 rounds of 30-bore ammunition, 4,000 rounds of nine mm ammunition, 4,040 rounds of 44 mm ammunition, 2,900 rounds of .308 ammunition, and 100 rounds of seven mm ammunition.

The operation also resulted in the recovery of 150 grams of ice and 4,450 grams of heroin powder. The accused, identified as Raza Muhammad, has a criminal record, including involvement in eight cases across various districts of Punjab. He is now in custody, and a case has been registered at Tarnol Police Station, with further investigations underway.

The SSP praised the dedication of the Islamabad Police, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining peace and security in the federal capital. DIG Islamabad Syed Ali Raza commended the police teams for their efficient work, announcing commendation certificates as recognition of their outstanding performance.

The SSP also highlighted the robust security measures in place, with officers diligently performing their duties at checkpoints at the city’s entry and exit points. The Safe City Islamabad project’s advanced surveillance cameras play a critical role in 24/7 monitoring of the city. These efforts ensure comprehensive security for citizens, with a clear message to criminal elements that Islamabad Police will not tolerate any threats to peace and order.

This operation underscores the unwavering resolve of Islamabad Police to protect the lives and property of citizens. By tightening the grip around criminal elements and employing advanced technologies, the police continue to set an example of effective law enforcement in Pakistan.
