US Secretary of State Marco Rubio Lauds Pakistan’s Peace Role in First Meeting with FM Ishaq Dar

In a significant diplomatic moment, United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio commended Pakistan for its contributions to regional and global peace during his first face-to-face meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

The meeting, held in Washington, DC, marked the second phase of Dar’s eight-day official visit to the United States. His trip began in New York, where he represented Pakistan at key United Nations Security Council (UNSC) events under Pakistan’s presidency, including a high-profile conference on Palestine.

According to a statement by Pakistan’s Foreign Office (FO), Rubio recognized Pakistan’s “everlasting sacrifices in the war on terr0r” and appreciated its ongoing efforts to promote stability in the region. “Pakistan has always played a positive role in global and regional peace,” Rubio reportedly stated.

The discussion spanned a wide range of strategic and bilateral issues. Both leaders explored opportunities for expanding cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, technology, and mineral resources. Counter-terr0rism and regional peace, particularly in South Asia, were also high on the agenda.

Foreign Minister Dar praised the role of President Donald Trump and broader US leadership in global peacebuilding efforts. He highlighted their “commendable” contributions during moments of heightened tension between Pakistan and India.

“Pakistan and the US seek further expansion and stability in bilateral relations,” Dar stated, expressing optimism for deeper collaboration in future.

The meeting reflects a warming trend in US-Pakistan relations and a renewed focus on strategic dialogue across multiple sectors.
