Non-Bailable Arrest Warrant Issued for Former KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur in Arms and Liquor Case
A district and sessions court in Islamabad has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in connection with an arms and liquor recovery case. Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan ordered the police to arrest and present the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader before the court after he repeatedly failed to attend hearings.
Court Orders Arrest Over Repeated Absence
The case was registered at Bara Kahu Police Station in the federal capital. During the hearing, the magistrate noted Gandapur’s continuous absence from proceedings and directed law enforcement to ensure his presence in the next session, scheduled for October 28.
This latest warrant is not the first. The same magistrate had earlier issued a similar order last month in the same case, highlighting the former CM’s disregard for court appearances. The order intensifies the legal troubles facing the PTI stalwart following his recent removal from the KP chief minister’s position.
Legal Challenges Mount for PTI Leadership
The case against Gandapur comes amid a series of legal challenges for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leadership. Since the May 9, 2023 riots, the party has been under increasing legal and political pressure. PTI founder Imran Khan, along with several senior figures including Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Yasmin Rashid, remains in detention over multiple cases related to the incidents.
Adding to the growing list of legal proceedings, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi recently ordered the arrest of Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, directing authorities to produce her before the court on October 22. The order is linked to the PTI protest staged on November 26 last year.
Growing Legal and Political Pressure
Analysts view the latest developments as part of PTI’s ongoing legal battle that has reshaped Pakistan’s political landscape since mid-2023. Gandapur, once considered one of the party’s most vocal provincial leaders, now faces mounting court cases that could further limit his political activity.
Observers note that the PTI’s leadership remains entangled in multiple investigations, while party supporters continue to call for fair proceedings and transparency. The recent warrants reflect the judiciary’s firm stance on ensuring accountability, regardless of political affiliation.
The court’s next hearing on October 28 will determine whether Ali Amin Gandapur appears before the magistrate, as the authorities move forward with the enforcement of the arrest warrant.
