    Pakistan and Iran Hold 13th Bilateral Political Consultations in Islamabad

    Islamabad, 17 November 2025 – Pakistan and Iran convened the 13th Round of Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) in Islamabad on 17 November 2025, reinforcing the enduring diplomatic and brotherly ties between the two nations. The Pakistani delegation was led by Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch, while Iran was represented by Deputy Minister for Political Affairs, Majid Takht-Ravanchi. Senior officials from both sides participated in the consultations, reflecting the depth and continuity of the bilateral dialogue.


    Comprehensive Discussions on Bilateral Relations

    During the consultations, both sides held in-depth discussions covering the entire spectrum of Pakistan-Iran relations. Officials reviewed the status of implementing decisions from the previous BPC rounds and agreed to further enhance and diversify bilateral trade. Discussions also focused on expanding cooperation in key sectors, including energy, transport connectivity, and education, alongside strengthening people-to-people exchanges.

    The two sides highlighted the importance of leveraging institutional mechanisms such as the Joint Economic Commission (JEC) and Joint Trade Committee (JTC) to develop closer collaboration and identify areas of mutual interest. These measures aim to facilitate sustained economic growth and strengthen bilateral ties in multiple sectors.


    Regional and Global Cooperation

    The consultations also addressed regional and global developments of significance. Both Pakistan and Iran reaffirmed their commitment to cooperate in multilateral forums, including the United Nations (UN), Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO). The discussions underscored the importance of coordinated action on issues of common concern and shared regional security challenges.

    Officials stressed that regular consultations and institutional mechanisms would ensure continuous dialogue and proactive engagement on global and regional matters, supporting both nations’ shared strategic interests.


    Strengthening Historical and Cultural Ties

    The BPC reflected the close and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iran, deeply rooted in shared history, culture, and faith. Both sides acknowledged that strong diplomatic engagement plays a vital role in fostering stability, economic cooperation, and mutual understanding between the two nations.

    In a joint statement, the delegations confirmed their commitment to holding the next round of Bilateral Political Consultations in Tehran on mutually convenient dates, ensuring continuity in high-level dialogue and cooperation.


    Looking Ahead

    The 13th round of BPC has highlighted Pakistan and Iran’s shared vision for expanding trade, energy cooperation, and educational exchanges while strengthening regional collaboration. Through sustained institutional engagement and strategic dialogue, both nations aim to bolster bilateral ties, promote economic growth, and foster stability in the region.

    These consultations demonstrate the commitment of Pakistan and Iran to maintain open channels of communication, deepen diplomatic relations, and work collaboratively on issues of regional and global significance.
