Islamabad’s Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), presided over by Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, sentenced 10 PTI workers in a case related to the May 9 riots registered under FIR No. 626/24 at Industrial Area police station. The convicts were found guilty of participating in unlawful assembly and rioting after the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan.
Of the 10 convicted, four were identified as permanent Afghan nationals. Punishments include up to six years of imprisonment along with fines. Six other accused remain proclaimed offenders, with perpetual non-bailable warrants issued for their arrest.
The May 9 riots, which followed Khan’s arrest, caused significant damage to public and military installations. This verdict reflects the ongoing crackdown on individuals involved in the violence. Authorities continue efforts to apprehend absconders.
