In the Bajaur sector, security forces reportedly carried out a strong response following alleged mortar and shelling fire from across the border targeting civilian areas.

According to initial security-related reports, the response was described as a “forceful retaliatory action,” during which multiple suspected militant positions across the border were engaged. Sources claim that several outposts associated with the Afghan side were hit as part of the counter-action.

Unconfirmed field reports further suggest that a number of militant elements were neutralized during the exchange, while some forward positions were reportedly destroyed. However, these figures have not yet been independently verified.

The situation developed after reported shelling targeted civilian-populated areas in Bajaur, prompting immediate retaliatory measures by security forces aimed at neutralizing the source of fire and preventing further escalation.

Authorities maintain that such responses are part of ongoing efforts to secure the border region and protect civilian populations from cross-border attacks and militant infiltration.

At this stage, official detailed confirmations regarding damage assessments and casualties are still awaited.
