CM Sarfaraz Bugti Highlights Reforms and Social Projects in Balochistan

In a conference held in Quetta on Thursday, BalochistanCM Sarfaraz Bugti unveiled various collaborative welfare initiatives being undertaken through public-private partnerships. The CM emphasized the province’s ongoing reforms, anti-corruption measures, and social development projects while calling for societal unity in combating terrorism.

Addressing Corruption and Merit in Recruitment

During his speech, CCM Sarfaraz Bugti identified corruption as a significant obstacle to development in Balochistan. He detailed efforts to tackle the issue, highlighting the government’s commitment to merit-based recruitment, especially in the education sector. However, he pointed out challenges, such as individuals presenting fake degrees, which undermine these efforts.

“Merit remains our priority, but we are facing issues where some individuals are attempting to exploit the system by using fraudulent credentials,” said Bugti.

Challenges of NGOs and Government Employment

The CM also raised concerns about the activities of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the region. He noted that some NGOs operate with specific agendas, creating challenges for the government. Additionally, he acknowledged the limitations of the state in providing employment to all citizens, emphasizing the importance of developing alternative opportunities.

Support for Families of Civilian Martyrs

In a significant announcement, CM Sarfaraz Bugti revealed a new initiative aimed at supporting the families of civilian martyrs. The government will bear the cost of up to 16 years of education for children who have lost parents to terrorism. This measure underscores the administration’s commitment to supporting those affected by violence.

    Development Plans and Budget Utilization

Addressing the province’s development strategy, Bugti outlined the formulation of plans despite limited financial resources. However, he expressed concerns about the inefficient utilization of funds. He revealed that Rs200 billion allocated under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) remained underutilized due to inefficiencies in departmental execution.

“While we are constrained by limited resources, we must ensure that allocated funds are utilized effectively to drive development and progress,” Bugti stated.

Condemning Terrorism and Calling for Unity

CM Bugti stressed the importance of societal condemnation of terrorism and collective efforts to prevent it. He urged communities to play an active role in fostering peace and stability in the region.

    Conclusion

The announcements made by CM Sarfaraz Bugti reflect a multi-faceted approach to addressing Balochistan’s challenges. From combatting corruption and supporting merit-based systems to launching educational initiatives for victims of terrorism, the government’s efforts aim to create a more equitable and stable future for the province.
