Pakistan has taken a significant step in empowering its local workforce with specialized training in the mining sector. The National University of Technology (NUTECH) recently hosted the closing ceremony of the Reko Diq Mining Course on February 14 in Islamabad, marking a milestone for the nation’s industrial and educational collaboration.

A total of 18 engineers from Balochistan, associated with the Reko Diq project, successfully completed specialized training in mining technology at NUTECH. This initiative, led by Pakistan’s Ministry of Science and Technology, reflects a strong commitment to building a skilled workforce that can contribute to the country’s mineral sector.

During the ceremony, Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Sajid Baloch, underscored the importance of investing in local talent. He stated, “We are committed to nurturing future leaders in the mining sector by equipping our youth with specialized skills.” Recognizing the dedication of these young engineers, he emphasized their role in driving major national projects forward.

This initiative is not just about training—it is a long-term strategy aimed at enhancing technical expertise and ensuring that Pakistan’s vast mineral resources are utilized efficiently for economic prosperity.

The partnership between Reko Diq and NUTECH is expected to bring innovation to the mining industry while also contributing to the local community’s socio-economic upliftment. Equipping young engineers with the latest mining techniques will not only benefit Pakistan’s mineral sector but also open avenues for employment and entrepreneurship.

Graduates of this program will play a pivotal role in Balochistan’s development, helping to transform its resource-rich landscape into a thriving economic hub. Their success is expected to inspire future generations of engineers to pursue careers in the mining and industrial sectors.

Pakistan’s journey towards technological advancement in mining has only begun, and with initiatives like this, the nation is steadily paving the way for sustainable industrial growth.
