    Fifth Round of Pakistan-China Maritime Dialogue Reaffirms Commitment to Maritime Cooperation

    Fifth Pakistan-China Maritime Dialogue signaled a new milestone in the strategic partnership between the two countries

    Islamabad, April 16, 2025: Pakistan and China held the Fifth Round of the Pakistan-China Dialogue on Maritime Cooperation in Beijing, China. This dialogue signaled another milestone in deepening strategic partnership between the two countries.

    The dialogue was co-chaired by Additional Secretary (Asia-Pacific) of Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, and Director General of the Department of Boundary and Ocean Affairs of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hong Liang.

    The two sides positively assessed the progress made since the fourth round of the dialogue and engaged in comprehensive discussions on a wide range of maritime issues. Key areas of deliberation included maritime security, the marine economy, scientific and technological collaboration in oceanography, and the protection of the marine environment.

    Both delegations reaffirmed that maritime cooperation constitutes a vital pillar of the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Pakistan and China. They emphasized their shared commitment to building a Pakistan-China maritime community with a shared future, supported by mutual trust, sustainable development, and regional stability.

    The dialogue concluded with both sides agreeing to maintain regular communication on maritime affairs, enhance policy coordination, and expand cooperation across bilateral and multilateral platforms. It was further agreed that the Sixth Round of the Pakistan-China Dialogue on Maritime Cooperation will be hosted by Pakistan at an appropriate time in 2026.
