ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered the creation of a medical board to assess the health of Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail.
Justice Miangul Hasan Aurangzeb issued the directive, mandating that the Executive Director of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) establish the board, which will include Imran Khan’s personal physician, Dr. Faisal Sultan.
In addition, the court has permitted Khan’s lawyers to meet with him during this process.
After the formation of the medical board, the PIMS Executive Director is required to submit a report to the IHC registrar’s office, with a copy of the order also sent to the Superintendent of Adiala Jail for implementation.
The former Prime Minister, who is 72 years old, had requested a medical check-up from his personal physicians. The IHC noted that security measures should not impede qualified doctors from examining under-trial prisoners classified as B-class.
