Iran Air Launches Historic Direct Flights Between Quetta, Zahedan & Mashhad

Iran Air has inaugurated a new direct air route connecting Quetta with Zahedan and Mashhad — a significant milestone in Pak-Iran relations. The historic Airbus A319 completed its maiden commercial flight on Friday, August 8, 2025, landing smoothly at Quetta International Airport

At the ceremony, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran, Mohammad Mudassir Tipu, called the launch a “long-standing demand” of people in the border regions. He emphasized its enormous potential to boost business, tourism, and people-to-people interactions .

This weekly flight will initially connect Quetta with Zahedan and Mashhad, reducing travel costs and time for traders, pilgrims, and leisure travelers alike. The acting Iranian consul general, Ali Reza Rajai, underscored that cargo facilities will further amplify trade opportunities, particularly between Gwadar and Chabahar ports.

Officials from both countries hope to expand the service frequency in response to demand The News InternationalProfit by Pakistan Today. The launch comes amid restrictions on road travel for Arbaeen pilgrims due to secu-rity concerns, making this route a timely and safe alternative Daily TimesPakistan Today+1.

By establishing regular air links among these historic regions, both nations hope to foster deeper cultural exchange and economic synergy. The new route is poised to stimulate regional development and provide vital air access for Balochistan’s communities
