    Ishaq Dar’s Kabul Visit Strengthens Bilateral Commitment

    Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, paid a one-day official visit to Kabul on April 19, 2025, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan. He was received at the airport by senior Afghan dignitaries, including Deputy Foreign Minister Dr. Mohammad Naeem Wardak, Director General Mufti Noor Ahmad, and Chief of State Protocol Faisal Jalali. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani, and other embassy officials were also present.

    According to the Foreign Office, Senator Ishaq Dar held extensive talks with Acting Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi. The meeting included a comprehensive exchange on matters of bilateral interest and regional significance.

    The Foreign Office Spokesperson stated that both sides agreed to strengthen cooperation in several key areas including security, trade, transit, regional connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges. The discussions reflected the mutual desire to advance shared goals through dialogue and collaboration.

    Senator Dar emphasized the importance of addressing critical issues such as border management and cross-border security. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to promoting peace, stability, and economic cooperation across the region.

    According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the need for practical strategies to enhance economic ties and connectivity. He stated that  resolving border-related challenges would help unlock the region’s trade potential.

    The Foreign Office further confirmed that both parties agreed on the importance of maintaining high-level contacts. They reaffirmed their commitment to fostering mutually beneficial relations based on trust and cooperation.

    The meeting underscored Pakistan’s continued efforts to engage with Afghanistan through diplomatic channels and constructive dialogue. It also reflected Pakistan’s broader foreign policy objective of regional integration and peaceful coexistence.

    The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides expressing a firm commitment to continued engagement and collaboration in the future.

    According to the Spokesperson, the visit marked a positive step in strengthening bilateral ties and addressing shared challenges. It was agreed that sustained engagement at the leadership level is essential to navigate complex regional dynamics.
