In September 2024, militant attacks in Pakistan dropped by 7%, according to recent security reports. However, fatalities surged by 90% during the third quarter, highlighting a severe escalation in violence, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan.
Security Reports Indicate Decline in Attacks
Reports from Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) reveal a 7% decline in militant attacks in September, with 77 incidents resulting in 77 deaths and 132 injuries. The CRSS report, however, points out a drastic 90% rise in deaths over the third quarter.

KP and Balochistan Witness Surge in Fatalities
The bulk of the violence was concentrated in KP, with 47 attacks leading to 54 fatalities. The former FATA areas, now part of KP, were particularly hard-hit. Balochistan saw a reduction in the number of attacks but still recorded significant fatalities and injuries.
