Militant Attacks in Pakistan Drop by 7% Amid Surge in Fatalities

In September 2024, militant attacks in Pakistan dropped by 7%, according to recent security reports. However, fatalities surged by 90% during the third quarter, highlighting a severe escalation in violence, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan.

Security Reports Indicate Decline in Attacks

Reports from Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) reveal a 7% decline in militant attacks in September, with 77 incidents resulting in 77 deaths and 132 injuries. The CRSS report, however, points out a drastic 90% rise in deaths over the third quarter.

    Security Forces Responding to Escalation

Despite ongoing intelligence-based operations, security forces face challenges in stabilizing the region. Militants continue to regroup, with Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) expanding its ranks. Public distrust in military operations in KP is rising, as civilians and law enforcement express concern over the state’s ability to maintain security.
