Natasha Danish Granted Bail in Drug Case After Karsaz Road Accident

The Sindh High Court (SHC) approved the bail application of Natasha Danish, the driver involved in the Karsaz road accident, in a drug-related case. Danish’s bail was granted against surety bonds worth Rs1 million.

Background of the Karsaz Road Accident

On August 19, Natasha Danish was driving a speeding Toyota Land Cruiser that collided with three motorcycles and another car on Karsaz Road, Karachi. The accident claimed the lives of Imran Arif, 60, and his 22-year-old daughter Amna, while three others were injured. Danish was arrested at the scene and charged with manslaughter.

    Legal Proceedings and Bail Approval

Earlier this month, Danish was granted bail in the manslaughter case after the victims’ family pardoned her without seeking any blood money. However, her bail in a separate drug case was initially rejected by both a judicial magistrate and a sessions court.

After the dismissal of her bail twice, Danish’s lawyer, Farooq H. Naek, filed a petition with the SHC. The police presented a charge sheet against her in court, and during the hearing, Justice Muhammad Karim Khan Agha granted bail against surety bonds worth Rs1 million.

Drug Allegations and Medical Report Discrepancy

The prosecution argued that Danish was under the influence of methamphetamine at the time of the accident. However, her lawyer countered that the medical report was unclear since the drug was found in her urine but not in her blood. Naek also suggested that Danish’s psychiatric treatment may have involved medications that could explain the presence of substances in her system.
