Four Militants Killed in Failed Suicide Att@ck by Fitna al-Khawarij in North Waziristan
Pakistan’s secu-rity forces successfully thwarted a suicide att@ck by the banned group Fitna al-Khawarij (TTP) in North Waziristan on Friday, neutralising four militants before they could breach a military compound. According to official sources, the swift and coordinated response prevented any loss of life or property.
Suicide Bomber Rammed Expl0sive-Laden Vehicle into Camp Wall
The incident occurred when a suicide bomber rammed an expl0sive-filled vehicle into the perimeter wall of a secu-rity camp in North Waziristan. Following the blast, three armed militants attempted to enter the premises but were swiftly gunned down by alert soldiers. Officials confirmed that no personnel were harmed in the incident.
Separately, secu-rity forces in Bajaur intercepted another vehicle carrying hundreds of kilograms of expl0sives intended for detonation in a civilian area. The vehicle was destroyed in a controlled blast, preventing a potential tragedy. Authorities reported that the material had been smuggled from Afghanistan along with commercial goods.
Six Militants Killed in Datta Khel Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO)
In a parallel development, six militants were neutralised during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan. The operation followed an eight-day surveillance mission, leading to the elimination of a key Fitna al-Khawarij commander identified as Mehboob alias Muhammad.
This brings the total number of militants killed in the past two days to 94, marking a significant step in ongoing counter-militant efforts across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Officials said that these operations are part of a broader campaign aimed at stabilising the region and eliminating cross-border threats.
Rising Cross-Border Tensions Between Pakistan and Afghanistan
The escalation of operations comes amid heightened tensions between Islamabad and Kabul. Pakistan has repeatedly urged Afghanistan to prevent its soil from being used by proscribed groups like the TTP to carry out att@cks inside Pakistan.
Recently, Pakistan conducted precision strikes targeting militant strongholds in Afghanistan’s Kandahar province following multiple cross-border incursions. A temporary 48-hour ceasefire was later reached at the request of the Afghan Taliban administration.
The two countries share a 2,500-kilometre porous border, which remains a focal point for both trade and secu-rity. However, continued infiltration attempts have led to increased vigilance and countermeasures by Pakistan’s Armed Forces.
