Pakistan and Bangladesh have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral relations, expanding collaboration in trade, culture, and multilateral engagements.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, met on the sidelines of the D-8 Summit in Cairo, emphasizing their shared goal of mutually beneficial development.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the historical and cultural ties between the two nations, underscoring Pakistan’s desire to deepen economic cooperation. Both sides agreed to explore new trade opportunities in chemicals, cement clinkers, surgical goods, leather products, and the IT sector.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for Bangladesh’s recent initiatives to facilitate trade and travel, such as waiving the 100% physical inspection of Pakistani consignments and eliminating additional visa clearance requirements.
The two leaders stressed the importance of fostering closer ties through people-to-people contacts and cultural exchanges.
They acknowledged recent successes, such as the visit of the Bangladesh Cricket Team to Pakistan and a Pakistani artist’s concert in Dhaka. Enhanced cooperation was also agreed upon in education, sports, and academic exchanges.
Pakistan and Bangladesh committed to closer collaboration in multilateral fora, particularly within the framework of the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of bilateral relations and the increasing frequency of high-level engagements, which reflect the goodwill and fraternal ties between the two nations.
With these developments, Pakistan and Bangladesh are poised to open a new chapter of cooperation, promoting regional stability and economic growth.
