Pakistan, Bangladesh Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthen Defence and Security Ties
General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI, NI (M), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), undertook an official visit to Bangladesh, where he met with the country’s top civil and military leadership to reinforce bilateral cooperation in defence and secu-rity affairs.
During his visit, the CJCSC called on Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan (Chief of Naval Staff), Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan (Chief of Air Staff), and Lieutenant General S. M. Kamrul Hassan (Principal Staff Officer, Armed Forces Division). Both sides held in-depth discussions on the regional environment, global challenges, and mutual efforts for stability.
Strengthening Bilateral Cooperation
The meetings underscored the importance of further enhancing collaboration between Pakistan and Bangladesh in areas of defence and secu-rity. General Mirza reaffirmed Pakistan’s appreciation for its longstanding fraternal relations with Bangladesh and emphasized the shared desire to build ties based on sovereign equality, mutual trust, and respect. Both sides expressed optimism about expanding military-to-military engagements, training exchanges, and cooperative initiatives.
Acknowledgment of Pakistan’s Professionalism
As part of his visit, the CJCSC also toured the School of Infantry and Tactics in Sylhet, where he interacted with faculty members and students. Bangladesh’s leadership praised the professional excellence of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their significant contributions and sacrifices in combating terr0rism.
Earlier, upon his arrival at Senakunjo, General Mirza was presented with a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out military contingent. He also laid a wreath at Shikha Anirban, paying tribute to the country’s fallen heroes.
Commitment to Regional Stability
The visit reflected both nations’ shared determination to enhance cooperation for regional peace and stability. Officials on both sides noted that continued engagement between Pakistan and Bangladesh would contribute to broader regional harmony, fostering understanding and partnership through mutual respect and professional collaboration.
