Pakistan Navy & China have confirmed major gas reserves under Pakistan’s seabed
Pakistan Navy has confirmed the discovery of vast gas reserves beneath the sea in collaboration with China. The revelation was made by Rear Admiral (retd) Fawad Amin Baig during Pakistan Navy Day on September 8, a day that honours the sacrifices and achievements of the naval forces.

According to Baig, a detailed survey carried out with Chinese assistance confirmed significant gas deposits in Pakistan’s seabed. He said these reserves could transform the country’s economic outlook if tapped with the right technology and investment.

He emphasized that Pakistan’s waters hold untapped mineral and marine resources, making them a potential treasure for national development. However, he noted challenges such as investor hesitation due to fifth-generation tactics aimed at disrupting progress.

Baig stressed that with the Special Investment Facilitation Council, along with cooperation between the military and political leadership, Pakistan is ready to move forward with a new defence and economic strategy.

China and Pakistan are already working on joint agreements to expand mining and marine energy cooperation. Beijing has pledged to support development in offshore oil, gas, and natural gas hydrate projects. Officials believe this collaboration could open new opportunities for Pakistan’s energy sector.
