PM Shehbaz Sharif Urges UN to Act on Kashmir and Palestine
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). In their meeting, PM Shehbaz called on the UN to implement the UN Security Council resolutions regarding Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring the right to self-determination for the people of Kashmir.
He raised concerns about India’s actions in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and stressed the need to resolve this dispute for lasting peace in South Asia. Additionally, PM Shehbaz condemned Israel’s genocidal actions against Palestinians, calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and accountability for Israel.

PM Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that resolving the Kashmir and Palestinian conflicts is essential for global peace and security. He welcomed Secretary-General Guterres’s initiative for the Summit of the Future, expressing hope that it will help bridge the financial gap for SDGs and climate goals in developing nations.
The Prime Minister also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to international peace efforts, as Pakistan aims to contribute actively as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2025-2026.

Strengthening Relations with Turkey and Kuwait
PM Shehbaz Sharif also met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the UNGA session, expressing gratitude for Turkey’s strong stance on the Palestinian crisis. Both leaders reaffirmed the brotherly ties between Pakistan and Turkey, with plans for President Erdogan to visit Pakistan soon.
Additionally, PM Shehbaz Sharif held bilateral talks with Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. Both leaders affirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, especially in economic cooperation under the Special Investment Facilitation Council.
