US President Donald Trump assured Pakistan of full cooperation in trade: Shehbaz sharif

    Strengthening Pakistan-US Relations

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has revealed that US President Donald Trump assured Pakistan of full cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, and economy during their recent meeting in Washington. Describing the encounter as “very pleasant,” Sharif said bilateral ties have gained stability in recent months.

The premier noted that discussions covered trade expansion, oil and gas exploration, as well as opportunities in the mining and minerals sector. He added that Trump’s commitment could open new avenues of bilateral investment and economic collaboration.

    Praise for Trump’s Peace Efforts

Sharif disclosed that Pakistan nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his role in preventing escalation with India and mediating international conflicts. He praised the US president for his “timely intervention” and acknowledged efforts toward ceasefire in Gaza.

The prime minister also reiterated Pakistan’s “historic victory” in the recent conflict with India, crediting the leadership of Field Marshal Asim Munir and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu. He said this reaffirmed Pakistan’s strength in both conventional and unconventional defense.

    Saudi-Pakistan Defense Pact

Highlighting regional partnerships, Sharif announced that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had formalized their ties through a defense agreement. Under the pact, an att@ck on one would be treated as an att@ck on both. He emphasized that protecting Mecca and Medina was a shared responsibility of the Muslim world.

At the United Nations and the Arab-Islamic Summit, Pakistan reiterated its support for the Palestinian cause and condemned the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Sharif described the suffering of civilians as an example of modern-day brutality.

    Climate Change and Domestic Challenges

Turning to domestic issues, Sharif highlighted the devastation caused by recent floods, which he linked to climate change. Over a thousand lives were lost, crops destroyed, and livelihoods severely impacted. Despite the crisis, the government is committed to recovery and resilience.

He stressed that his administration’s focus remains on poverty reduction, job creation, and economic revival rather than political rivalries. Sharif called for equipping Pakistan’s youth with modern skills in AI, IT, agriculture, and technology to lead future growth and innovation.
