In a bold and decisive move, Pakistan’s security forces eliminated 71 terrorists during a three-day operation near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The operations, conducted between April 25 and 27, 2025, focused on the Hassan Khel area of North Waziristan. Following successful engagements against infiltrators, a comprehensive sanitization operation was launched. During this phase, 17 more terrorists — acting at the behest of their foreign handlers — were neutralized. A large quantity of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was also recovered.

This achievement marks the highest number of terrorists killed in a single series of engagements during Pakistan’s ongoing counterterrorism campaign. ISPR stated that these terrorists attempted to infiltrate Pakistan’s territory to carry out high-profile attacks, aiming to destabilize the country’s peace and progress.

The ISPR emphasized that such hostile actions, especially at a time when India is levelling baseless allegations against Pakistan, reveal the external forces backing terrorism. These activities are clear acts of treason against Pakistan and its citizens. Yet, the operations proved Pakistan’s forces remain vigilant, capable, and determined to defend every inch of national soil.

The porous 2,500-kilometer-long Pak-Afghan border has long posed security challenges. Militants often exploit unregulated crossing points to stage attacks. Despite these challenges, Pakistan has consistently urged Afghanistan’s interim government to prevent its territory from being used by groups such as the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) for launching cross-border assaults.

These successful operations not only dealt a heavy blow to terrorist networks but also sent a strong message to their sponsors: Pakistan’s armed forces remain resolute. The ISPR highlighted that the nation’s fight against terrorism is unwavering and continues to gain strength with each victory.

As Pakistan navigates complex regional dynamics, the resolve shown by its security forces reinforces the country’s commitment to peace, stability, and regional cooperation. Operations like these are crucial in ensuring that the enemies of peace are decisively defeated and that Pakistan continues its march towards lasting security and prosperity.
