Pakistan Envoy to Deliver Stern Message on TTP Facilitation in Kabul
Pakistan is intensifying its diplomatic engagement with Afghanistan over the issue of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Ambassador Muhammad Sadiq Khan, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, will travel to Kabul early next week with a clear message: end the support for TTP or face serious consequences.
Islamabad has provided evidence that TTP is acquiring money, weapons, and training with assistance from India, while also enjoying safe havens inside Afghanistan. This has led to repeated violence and martyrdom of Pakistani soldiers in recent operations. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported that 19 soldiers were martyred in recent clashes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while 45 militants were eliminated.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during his visit to Bannu, stated that Afghanistan must decide whether it stands with Pakistan or with groups creating unrest. He stressed that there will be zero tolerance for ambiguity. The premier also highlighted that Afghan nationals have been involved in several incidents inside Pakistan, and illegal residents would be expelled soon.
Pakistan has reminded Kabul of its repeated commitments not to allow Afghan soil to be used against its neighbour. However, officials say that promises made by the Taliban administration have not been fulfilled. The upcoming visit aims to push for firm action against the TTP to ensure regional peace.
