Pakistan Launches Targeted Operation in Kandahar

The Pakistan Army has conducted precision strikes on key strongholds of the Afghan Taliban located in Afghanistan’s Kandahar province, secu-rity sources confirmed on Wednesday. The operation targeted two high-value units — Battalion No 4 and Border Brigade No 6 — both of which played a central role in cross-border militant activity.

According to initial intelligence reports, the air and ground strikes successfully neutralised dozens of Afghan and foreign operatives, marking a significant disruption to Taliban operational capacity near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

    Foiled Infiltration Attempt from Mohmand

While the Kandahar strikes were underway, militant groups attempted to infiltrate Pakistani territory through the Turkmenzai border area of the Mohmand district. Secu-rity sources stated that the infiltration was part of a broader plan to launch coordinated att@cks within Pakistan.

However, the swift response of Pakistani forces thwarted the attempt. A major militant formation was completely neutralised in Mohmand, where at least 30 militants were eliminated during the exchange. Officials have described this as a decisive countermeasure to prevent any spillover of violence into domestic areas.

Forces Maintain Full Readiness Against External Threats

Following the strikes, secu-rity authorities reiterated that the Pakistan Army possesses full operational readiness to respond to any form of external aggression. The forces continue to monitor the border closely as part of an ongoing clearance operation aimed at dismantling remaining militant infrastructure.

Sources also revealed that elements linked to Fitna al-Khawarij were involved in assisting the Afghan Taliban’s cross-border activities, highlighting the evolving nature of militant cooperation in the region.

The latest developments underline Pakistan’s resolve to safeguard its borders and prevent any external destabilization efforts. Officials have maintained that precision and restraint remain central to ongoing counter-militant strategies.

    Regional Implications

Analysts view the strikes as part of a broader recalibration of Pakistan’s defense posture following repeated border violations. While both nations have maintained diplomatic channels, the latest operation underscores Islamabad’s growing emphasis on pre-emptive measures to secure its western frontier.

Observers note that sustained cooperation between regional stakeholders will be crucial to addressing cross-border challenges in a way that promotes stability and mutual trust.
