    COAS Asim Munir, British Army Chief Discuss Defence and Security Cooperation

    RAWALPINDI: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, met with the Chief of the General Staff (CGS) of the United Kingdom Army, General Sir Charles Roland Vincent Walker, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Thursday to discuss regional secu-rity and ways to enhance bilateral defence cooperation.

    According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both leaders discussed matters of mutual interest, regional peace, and ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration in the defence sector. They agreed to continue close engagement to promote stability in the region and to explore new avenues for professional cooperation.

    The visiting dignitary commended the Pakistan Army’s sacrifices and achievements in the fight against extremism and its consistent efforts to promote regional peace. He also praised Pakistan’s role in fostering international defence partnerships based on mutual respect and trust.

    Earlier, upon arrival at GHQ Rawalpindi, the British Army Chief laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada to pay tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan. A smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army presented a guard of honour to the distinguished guest.

    COAS Munir’s Visit to Jordan

    Prior to the meeting with the British Army Chief, COAS Asim Munir undertook an official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, where he met His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces.

    His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II also attended the meeting. Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral defence ties, regional peace, and cooperation in secu-rity-related matters.

    Field Marshal Munir conveyed warm greetings from the government and people of Pakistan to His Majesty, reaffirming Pakistan’s strong commitment to deepening its partnership with Jordan.

    King Abdullah II appreciated Pakistan’s contributions toward regional stability and expressed a keen desire to further expand defence collaboration between the two brotherly nations. Both sides reiterated their commitment to continue working together for peace and progress in the region.
