Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has called on the United States and Iran to extend the ceasefire and allow diplomacy to take precedence, during a meeting with a senior US diplomat in Islamabad, according to Pakistan’s Foreign Office.
Dar made the remarks during talks with US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker, where he reiterated Pakistan’s consistent position that dialogue and diplomacy are the only viable path to resolving disputes and ensuring lasting regional peace and stability.
He stressed the importance of continued engagement between Washington and Tehran and urged both sides to maintain the ceasefire to create space for meaningful negotiations and de-escalation.
According to the Foreign Office statement, Dar highlighted that sustained diplomatic interaction is essential to preventing further escalation and stabilising an already tense regional environment.
US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker, in response, appreciated Pakistan’s “constructive and positive role” in promoting regional peace and facilitating dialogue between conflicting sides.
The meeting comes at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions and ongoing international efforts aimed at stabilising relations between the United States and Iran through diplomatic channels.
