    Introduction

Pakistan is observing the 11th anniversary of the Army Public School (APS) Peshawar tragedy, one of the darkest chapters in the nation’s history. On December 16, 2014, 147 innocent students and teachers lost their lives in a brutal terr0rist att@ck.

National leaders, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, have reaffirmed the country’s unwavering resolve to eliminate terr0rism and honour the memory of the martyrs.

    Remembering the APS Tragedy

The APS att@ck claimed the lives of 122 students and 25 staff members, including the school’s principal and teachers. The assailants entered the school premises wearing military-style uniforms and indiscriminately targeted children and staff.

The incident shocked the nation and prompted widespread reforms in Pakistan’s counterterr0rism strategy. Every year, December 16 is observed to honour the victims and reaffirm collective resolve.

    President Zardari’s Message

In his statement, President Asif Ali Zardari said Pakistan’s commitment to defeating terr0rism remains absolute. He stressed that there could be no tolerance for terr0rists or those who finance, shelter, or justify them.

He said the memory of APS martyrs strengthens national unity and resolve. The president also paid tribute to secu-rity forces, intelligence agencies, and law enforcement personnel for preventing similar tragedies.

President Zardari further stated that Pakistan would continue exposing hostile activities aimed at destabilising the country.

    Prime Minister’s Remarks

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the APS tragedy remains permanently etched in the nation’s conscience. He described the sacrifices of the children, teachers, and staff as a reminder of Pakistan’s collective responsibility to defeat terr0rism.

The prime minister offered prayers for the martyrs and expressed solidarity with their families, noting that their courage continues to inspire the nation.

    Interior Minister’s Statement

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also paid tribute to the APS martyrs, calling the incident one of the most heartbreaking events in Pakistan’s history. He said the att@ck exposed the brutal reality of terr0rism to the world.

Naqvi stressed that terr0rism is unacceptable under any name or justification and reiterated that the state’s stance remains clear and uncompromising.

    National Resolve and Legacy

The APS tragedy led to decisive national action, including enhanced counterterr0rism measures and stronger coordination among state institutions. While challenges remain, Pakistan’s leadership maintains that the sacrifices of APS martyrs will not go in vain.

The anniversary serves as both a moment of remembrance and a reaffirmation of unity.

    Conclusion

Eleven years after the APS Peshawar tragedy, Pakistan continues to honour the martyrs through remembrance, resilience, and resolve. National leaders have reiterated that peace and stability remain the country’s foremost priorities.

The message remains clear: Pakistan stands united against terr0rism, today and always.
