Abbas Araghchi said on Monday that there has been some progress in ongoing talks with the United States, while cautioning that a final agreement has yet to be reached.

Speaking to media in St Petersburg, Araghchi highlighted Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue between Tehran and Washington, describing it as an important mediating effort that helped sustain communication and move discussions forward.

He noted that earlier rounds of negotiations had failed due to what he termed U.S. “wrong policies” and excessive demands, which he said created obstacles to reaching a comprehensive deal.

According to the Iranian foreign minister, recent engagements have revisited past sticking points in detail and explored potential frameworks and terms for future negotiations, indicating a more structured approach to the dialogue process.

Araghchi also confirmed that he would meet Vladimir Putin to discuss the ongoing conflict situation and broader regional developments, calling the meeting an important opportunity for consultations.

He added that Iran and Russia continue to maintain close coordination on both regional and global issues, with their cooperation becoming increasingly significant under current geopolitical conditions.

Analysts suggest that the growing diplomatic engagement between Iran, Russia, and Pakistan reflects a broader effort to ease tensions and create conditions conducive to a potential agreement between Tehran and Washington.
