Mohsin Naqvi and Ali Amin Gandapur Strategize for Peace in Kurram

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Friday to discuss the province’s security challenges, particularly in Kurram district. The meeting, held at CM House in Peshawar, highlighted the need for collaboration and strategic planning to address the ongoing unrest.

Naqvi emphasized the federal government’s commitment to enhancing the capacity of law enforcement agencies in KP, stating, “Establishing peace in Kurram is our top priority.” Both leaders deliberated on sustainable measures to restore stability in the conflict-ridden district and stressed the importance of consultations with stakeholders for a lasting solution.

The Interior Minister and Chief Minister paid tribute to the sacrifices of law enforcement personnel in the fight against terrorism. Naqvi remarked, “Martyrs are our pride; we salute their eternal sacrifices,” while Gandapur reiterated, “Together, we will confront the menace of terrorism.”

Provincial Apex Committee Reviews Kurram’s Law-and-Order Situation

The provincial apex committee, chaired by CM Gandapur, convened to review the law-and-order situation in Kurram and assess steps taken by the provincial government. The meeting aimed to address essential supplies for residents in the strife-torn region and formulate a comprehensive plan for peace.

The session included top civil and military leaders, provincial cabinet members, district administrators, and other stakeholders. A Grand Jirga also presented updates on progress in maintaining peace and resolving disputes in Kurram.

Recent clashes and firing incidents in the district have claimed 130 lives and injured 186 others, according to hospital sources. The apex committee remains focused on actionable solutions to prevent further violence and ensure long-term stability in the region.
